Hellooo, it’s Annie. Today the painting team finished the church we were painting! There were only 6 or 7 of us, so we had to work really hard to get it done before it got too hot. We had already done the bottom parts of the four sides, so today we were up on ladders painting the top parts. We sweat A LOT and got really messy, but it was totally worth it. Chad got bitten by a crazy dog and Josh stepped in a pile of red ants, but other than that we got through the day injury-free. We even finished early!
Today was also the first day that the clinic was open for business.
At first there weren’t many people there, but John and a few others went out to some really poor parts of San Pedro to tell the people there about the free service the clinic was offering. The neighborhood they went too was extremely poor and run-down, all of the houses were up on stilts above stagnant water.
I didn’t work at the clinic so I really don’t have much to report, but I’m sure there’ll be a full update coming later.
We’re going to try and put up a few pics of our first days here, so come back to check later! This afternoon we’re going snorkeling, which should be fun, and tonight we’re having lobster at George’s. Yum. More to come soon!
